Health & Safety Lead (Tankers) – Permanent – Remote, UK – Competitive package

This is an excellent opportunity to join a reputable shipping company based in the UK. The role can be remote anywhere in the UK but will involve regular travel to visit vessels.

The main purpose of the role is to to prevent accidents and promotes health and safety awareness and education to fellow employees whether on shore or in the fleet. You will be responsible for making sure that employees follow health and safety laws and creating policies for a safer work environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Undertake investigations of H&S incidents and accidents both ashore and onboard our vessels
  • Design and deliver H&S training courses for seafarers and office staff in conjunction with the Fleet Trainer
  • Ensures that the fleet of vessels is operated safely at all times
  • Liaise with internal and external Health & Safety authorities
  • Support in creating a Health & Safety culture on board and on shore, based upon continuous evaluation, auditing and improvement.
  • Audit working practices, looking out for any unsafe behaviour or breaks in regulations

Experience Required:

  • Previous Seagoing experience as a Deck officer (Highly desirable)
  • Previous H&S experience within a shipping-based environment
  • Recognised Health and Safety qualifications (NEBOSH or equivalent) (desirable)
  • A willingness to visit ships and sail for short voyages to deliver onboard training and conduct inspections
  • Must have a full UK drivers license
