Shore End Project Engineer – London

A large telecommunication company in London is expanding the team and looking for a Shore End Project Engineer to join the team. You will be part of a dedicated team to manage the installation of telecommunications cable shore end activities worldwide. This role will primarily involve office duties in London with some site duties.

Office Duties:

* Building cost packs for the In House Shore Ends – liaising with potential subcontractors to obtain quotations and technical resource proposals.

* Supporting the expansion & implementation of in-house shore end installation, shallow water burial solutions including liaising with Purchasing, and Projects.

* Assisting in allocating/managing resources for the site works, via internal resources or external agencies/subcontractors

* Back-office support to the Shore End Engineers on site, monitoring cost escalation, and validation of invoices.

* Technical evaluation of subcontractors Method of Procedures, Plan of Works, Dive Plans, Health, Safety & Emergency response plans and associated operational documentation to ensure alignment with company requirements and lessons learnt.

* Technical/Project Management support to the Project and After Sales teams, including Site Rep briefings and follow up on management of change requests and incident reporting.

* Technical audits of company subcontractors and service suppliers remotely, and occasionally on site

* Technical reviews of Shore End Installation final report submissions from company subcontractors.

On-site activities – Involving foreign travel.

* Assisting cable landing point site surveys to access suitability, identify cost effective installation solutions and investigate local resource availability and compliance.

* Supporting the site implementation of in-house shore end installation & shallow water burial solutions.

* Potential engagement as Shore End on site Representative

Requirements:

• Computer literate – ideally with Windows/Microsoft office packages. Experience with engineering drawing packages, such as AutoCAD or Visio would be advantageous.
  * Good communication skills, and dedication to collaborative work
  * Ideally a minimum of 5 yrs. experience in the installation arena with a project engineering/management role, preferably within submarine cable/marine industry
  * Experience in building project cost packs and tracking cost to completion.
  * Full valid UK driving license.
  * Self-motivated, flexible individual, excited by the challenge of working for the world’s leading submarine telecommunications company.

Applicants must have an existing right to live and work in the UK. Ideally you will be located within a commutable distance to London, if not, then you would need to relocate at your own cost.
