Chief Cook – Ferry

Fantastic opportunity to join a passenger ferry as a Chief Cook on a permanent basis, working on a rotation of 2 weeks on 2 weeks off

Purpose of role

  • To manage all aspects of the galley (food preparation for the brassiere restaurant and crew mess room).
  • Manage 2nd Cook and Assistant Cook and stewards working in the Brasserie
  • To undertake any duties deemed fit by the Cabin Manager.
  • Stay up to date with all food and hygiene changes in practice and train team.
  • Liaising with Food & Beverage supervisor and discuss any problems that may occur during service, and any ideas to make the brassiere restaurant run more efficiently.
  • Responsible for galley crew and pot wash crew to be aware at all times the importance of maintaining a clean working practice and to ensure all sections are thoroughly scrubbed down after service
  • To check all food stores delivered for quality freshness and ensure all stores are put away correctly and that a stock rotation system is being used at all times.

Person Specification

  • Previous experience in a similar role on board would be beneficial
  • Ships Cook COC
  • Basic STCW certificates
  • Seafarers medical
  • Food Hygiene certification
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety standards
