Assistant Harbour Master Overview:
The Assistant Harbour Master role is a pivotal position in our dynamic team. Reporting to the Harbour Master, you will be responsible for supporting the efficient and safe navigation of vessels, managing vessel traffic, responding to incidents, and ensuring compliance with maritime regulations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with a variety of stakeholders, including ship operators, pilots, and governmental authorities, contributing to the smooth operation of one of the world's busiest waterways.

Key Duties:
- Assist in the coordination of vessel movements, berthing, and unberthing operations.
- Monitor and maintain navigational safety, responding to emergencies and incidents as necessary.
- Collaborate with pilots, tugboat operators, and port operators to ensure smooth vessel traffic management.
- Conduct inspections of port facilities, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Maintain records of vessel movements, incidents, and safety reports.
- Assist in the development and implementation of safety and security protocols.
- Provide guidance and support to vessel masters, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Assist in the planning and execution of special events and port operations projects.

Requirements:
To qualify for the Assistant Harbour Master role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a valid MCA Boat Master License or STCW Certificate of Competency.
- Demonstrated experience in maritime operations and navigational safety.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving abilities and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
- Knowledge of marine regulations and port operations is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with the Port of London's waterways and their unique challenges is a plus.

Work Experience Requirements

All applicants must have previous experience in working on ships.

Language Requirements

Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Certificates and Qualifications

Mandatory STCW certificates are required from all applicants.
