Senior Manager (Maritime) – Manila – Permanent – Competitive package

This is an excellent opportunity to join a global shipping company based in their Manila office.

The Senior Manager, should have a strong background in Finance & Accounting and will have overall responsibility for leading the Manila based Accounting and Accounts Payable teams. This includes responsibility for overseeing accounting and financial management activities, which includes support for the global accounting department as well as local accounting and reporting requirements.

Furthermore, the Senior Manager will have an indirect oversight responsibility for various other teams, including HR, Marine HR, Procurement, IT, and Operations, each of which reports to different business units

Responsibilities include:

• Accountability for overseeing the team handling bank and various account reconciliations, fixed asset management, receipt of funds, vessel & operational accounting and intercompany accounting as well as local tax, government and regulatory filings
• Accountability for overseeing the global Accounts Payable Team in Manila who are responsible for processing all operational, project, and overhead related expenditures as well as expense report processing
• Accountable for ensuring full compliance with all global policies and procedures, particularly those relating to financial processes and controls
• Develop strong and effective teams that work as cohesive units to deliver the highest quality service to the wider global business
• Work with local HR to ensure compliance with local policies and procedures
• Establish strong working relationships with the other departments based in the Manila office
• Provide ad hoc leadership support and direction to other Manila based employees, as and when required, in recognition of the fact that many line managers are remote from their direct reports and are based in different time zones

Experience Required:

• Business degree and professional accounting designation
• Experience working in the maritime industry (Highly desirable)
• Familiarity with US GAAP and SOX requirements
• Management reporting background
• High level of integrity, possesses good leadership values & workplace ethics
• Good management and organizational skills
• A team player with strong business acumen
• Experience in a similar role or in leading a large team
• Strong knowledge of corporate and finance systems
