Land Cable Project Engineer – London

I am working with a large telecommunications company in London needing a Land Cable Project Engineer to join the team.
There will be some travel in this position to worldwide sites around 20%-30% of the time depending on the projects.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparation of site-specific scopes of work, and associated documentation
• Assisting with planning, identification, allocation and management of resources for site works, via internal resources or external agencies/subcontractors
• Technical evaluation of subcontractors Method of Procedures, Plan of Works, and associated operational documents to ensure alignment with company requirements and lessons learnt
• On-site implementation of site surveys, including earth resistivity measurements
• Engineering design of land cable and system earth installation requirements
• Production of drawings for installation, including land route diagrams
• On-site fibre splicing, jointing, and testing of land cable, beach joints and system earths; and cable termination to terminal station equipment
• Back-office support to Land Cable Engineers on site, and technical support to the Projects and Services teams
• Liaising with the company cable factory, Purchasing, Project Management, Logistics Teams, and our Customers
• Preparation of site survey, on site and as-built reports, and technical reviews of land cable installation final report submissions from company subcontractors
• Technical review of company subcontractors and service suppliers remotely, and occasionally on site

Experience / Qualifications

• 2 years or more relevant work experience with preferably an engineering background
• Knowledge of fibre optics and electrics
• Computer literate – ideally with Windows/Microsoft office packages

• Good communication skills, and dedication to collaborative work
• Project Management, and Problem-solving skills
• Training will be provided for: company land-based jointing, cable termination, and working in confined spaces.
• Self-motivated, flexible individual, excited by the challenge of installing fibre optic cable for the world’s leading submarine telecommunications company.
