Project Engineer, Marine Composite Manufacturer – Dorset, UK – £30,000+

We are working with a leading manufacturer of large composite structures with sites across the South West of England. They offer a comprehensive composites manufacturing service from design and engineering to parts production and final assembly. Their clients include; BAE, Rolls Royce, Airbus, Sunseeker, and Siemens. They are looking to expand their clientele within Defence, Aerospace, Simulation, and Unmanned Aeriel Vehicles.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead projects from concept to delivery, ensuring smooth coordination.
- Estimate project costs and manage commercial aspects.
- Cultivate strong customer relationships through effective account management.
- Devise inventive manufacturing solutions for composite parts.
- Contribute to tool design as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation, including BOMs and sales orders.
- Establish clear project requirements with customers before manufacturing begins.
- Develop Engineering Management plans and resource estimates.
- Create comprehensive work instructions for manufacturing teams.
- Manage timely procurement of materials.
- Collaborate with the quality team to uphold best practices.
- Oversee component manufacture, both in-house and through external suppliers.
- Coordinate part production on the shop floor with production supervisors
- Assist in operating and maintaining shop-floor equipment.
- Stay updated on relevant technical and quality standards.
- Negotiate contract/job variations.
- Support invoicing, WIP tracking, and overdue payment collection.
- Occasional UK and international travel may be required.
Desirable Experience & Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
- Proficiency in Composite and GRP materials and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in Siemens NX or Solidworks for design (highly beneficial).
