Chief Engineer

The Captain Paul Watson Foundation is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to join our ship, the 72m John Paul DeJoria in Hull, UK at the end of August/beginning of September 2023.

We are a non-profit conservation organisation intervening with illegal operations exploiting life in the sea, with many of our crew being volunteers and all our funding relying on charitable donations.

The Chief Engineer position is very hands-on, supervising two other engineers and 1-2 volunteer oilers. The duration would be a three-month period with some time in UK dock before going to sea (Germany + France). Once onboard there is the opportunity to discuss future 3:3 rotation. 

Given this is a highly skilled position please note it is a paid role. All board and plant-based meals are provided. Currently onboard we have a wonderful international crew of 12. 

Extensive experience with Ruston 12RKCM or older British diesel engines is required.
