Our client is seeking a Senior Hydrographic Specialist to join the Bathymetric Team at their UK base.

Part of the wider Scientific Analysis Group, the team is made up of specialists with different levels of experience.

The tasks that the post holder will carry out include;

Verifying and review incoming acoustic and remotely collected bathymetric datasets
Develop future initiatives with the bathymetric team including the use of autonomous platforms to support lower carbon data collect and the development of new processes.
Undertake analysis and complete routine resurvey analysis reports.Support the Lead Hydrographic Science Specialist in the testing of new software, systems, data sources and processes.
Prepare text and graphics for reports feeding back to data suppliers.
Assist Lead Hydrographic Specialists in the conduct of hydrographic surveys and training.
Assist Survey Managers in the Tender, Planning, Fieldwork and Client Representation of hydrographic surveys.
This is a highly analytical role that requires the post holder to be able to examine and verify large quantities of hydrographic data of varying density and quality. Practical experience of bathymetry collection and competency in the use of a range of bathy processing and archiving software is preferred. Adaptability and willingness to undertake and potentially lead surveying in the field or lead on projects as and when the opportunity arises are also a key requirement.

The post will require the ability to travel in support of the survey programme, both in the UK and abroad. As such an ENG1 is essential and STCW basic training certificates would be preferred.

A minimum of CAT B Hydrographic Surveyor qualification and / or HPAS Level 2 or equivalent, but preferably CAT A and / or HPAS Level 1 or equivalent is required.

You will be able to demonstrate field experience as a hydrographic surveyor with demonstrable knowledge of the main principles of the hydrographic surveying and hold experience of processing survey data using Caris HIPS and SIPS or similar bathymetric processing tools.

The successful applicant will be required to go through Basic Personnel Security Checks which will include right to work, and a criminal record check, and you will also be required to apply for Security Clearance. The position is open to UK, British Commonwealth and EEA Nationals but the successful applicant must have resided in the UK for a minimum of 12 consecutive months within the last 5 years.
