GIS Assistant - 2 Year Fixed Term Contract - Gravesend

An exciting opportunity to join the harbour authority for the tidal Thames, home to the UK's biggest port and busiest inland waterway at a time of growth and transformation, with the Vision setting a clear path for future development.

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) team provide a range of mapping services both within the organisation and to the wider public. These can range from navigational information to estates, asset management and environmental applications.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual, initially for a two-year period to support project related work but the role has potential for permanency for the right candidate. You will be an agile team player, with an eye for detail, who already has some experience working in this field. This is an ideal role for an ambitious individual who wishes to expand their horizons in the maritime sector.

A little about the successful candidate;

* Good standard of education to at least degree level or relevant experience in a GIS, Computer Science or another related numerate discipline.
* Sound theoretical knowledge of mapping techniques including application of coordinate systems, projections and scale.
* Proficient in the use of GIS systems (Specifically ArcPro and Arc Enterprise. Some knowledge in Cadcorp would also be beneficial) and MS Office applications.
