Senior IT officer (Cruise) – Worldwide

We are looking to introduce a new Senior IT officer rank position to clients fleet. This role will be in charge of the IT department onboard leading a team of IT officers and IT technicians and responsible for the day to day operations onboard for technology for guests, crew and operations.

Person specification

• Degree or HND level qualification in an IT related subject.
• 5+ Years of Maritime IT Experience (with career progression)
• Minimum of four full contracts in an on-board IT Officer role on an Excel Class ship or equivalent with excellent appraisal ratings.
• Advanced IT Certification in one or more of the following: ( Comp TIA A+ / Comp TIA Network, Cisco CCENT , Cisco CCNA /CCNP, Microsoft MCSE, Microsoft MCSA in Windows 10 (or equivalent), Microsoft MCSA level in Server 2016 or 2012)
• Qualified to GVF 561 level Fundamentals for Marine Operators (Desirable)
• Excellent command of written and spoken English
• Passed Marlins English test of Proficiency (where applicable)
• Demonstrate strong working knowledge and experience of supporting Local area networks across Ships including but not limited to routers, network Switches, WiFi Controllers and Access Points. Good understanding of Firewalls (technology and functionality)
• Demonstrate strong working knowledge and experience of Windows Desktop, Microsoft Servers, Active Directory,
• Microsoft Office Applications, WiFI, IATV and VoIP.
• Demonstrate knowledge and hands-on experience of operating, troubleshooting and supporting maritime VSAT hardware and related technology to ensure optimal connectivity for shipboard inbound/outbound traffic
• Demonstrate in depth understanding all aspects of IT Operations including Incident, Problem and Change Management.
• Demonstrate ability to work to and meet SLA’s and carry out proactive problem management.
• Demonstrate excellent understanding in support of all process and applications as defined in LMS for the IT Officer rank and the Ship assigned to
• Valid ENG1 or equivalent medical certificate
