HR Advisor (Marine) – Permanent – Glasgow – Competitive package

This is an excellent opportunity to join the HR department of a global shipping company based in Glasgow

The role involves the management of various human resource functions regionally and globally. Acts as a “front-line” human resource representative for delivery of programs and services to regional line management and employees. This includes implementation of policies and programs in the areas of employee relations, talent management, training and development, recruitment, immigration and relocation. Works with the HR Director to ensure programs are aligned with overall business strategies and requirements.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage recruitment initiatives for specific teams in the business including:
    • Design and implementation of regional candidate sourcing and selection strategies.
    • Ensure accuracy of job descriptions and alignment with corporate standards. Gather information from employees and follow up with managers, as required.
    • Screen CVs, administer Predictive Index surveys, conduct interviews, complete pre-employment checks, and prepare and present offer to successful candidates.
  • Champion performance management program by coaching employees and managers through performance discussions and delivering training sessions.
  • Assist Director, Human Resources in coordinating leadership development programs.
  • Coordinate mentoring sessions and provide coaching to mentees/mentors.
  • Support Director, Human Resources in managing employee relations issues providing advice to managers and employees on resolution techniques
  • Advise management on compliance with local legislation and corporate policies and processes.

Experience Required:

  • University Degree or Diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of HR experience in a generalist capacity.
  • Excellent human relations, customer service, interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships and partnerships.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills
  • Ability to work well both independently as well as part of a team.
  • Technically savvy with expert level computer skills, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Experience working with an ATS and/or HRIS.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Hay Job Evaluation Method and Predictive Index Survey/Predictive Learning Index analysis.
  • Past experience in processing or supporting the processing of international payroll.
  • Current knowledge of UK payroll legislation, including the application of PAYE, NIC and other statutory deductions.
