Job Description: One of the UK's leading ports is recruiting for a Marine Policy & Projects Manager to join the team in Kent.

Reporting to the Harbour Master, the main purpose of the role is to support the wider Harbour Master's Team leading on document creation and review and deputising for the Marine Manager, which will see you working a variety of projects, liaising with key stakeholders on new ventures and participating in future planning to ensure projects don't adversely affect the safety of river users.

Ideally, you will have a broad marine background with thorough knowledge of the Port Marine Safety Code risk assessment techniques and relevant ports and marine legislation.

Other key responsibilities will include (but not exhaustive to);

  • Ensure that the management of navigation and marine operations in the port are supported by quality and effective documentation managed in compliance with the Company's marine regulatory framework and associated enforcement regime.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international legislation and incorporate any updates in law into marine documentation.
  • Support and develop the marine plan/ strategy in order to meet its targets and the demands of the changing river
  • Investigate navigational and pollution incidents and byelaw infringements in order to safeguard navigation on the Thames. To obtain and retain evidence for potential prosecution and co-ordinate the input of incident data into the Safety Management System.
  • You will use your experience and knowledge to create and review documentation, such as manuals, guides, policies and procedures, as well as research and inform decisions on the navigational implications of projects across the length of the River Thames.
