Our client is based in Aberdeen and is seeking a contract Safety Engineer for a long term ongoing contract. They are an asset owner who operate all of their own assets and offer an excellent working environment.
The candidate will perform Safety Engineering & Environmental activities supporting operations teams to meet the company objectives as described in Corporate Policy.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Providing independent technical safety engineering advice to ensure that the risks to personnel on North Sea assets are managed to a level that is as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP), thereby ensuring compliance with corporate objectives and UK legislation.
  • Understanding and knowledge of UK legislation (including OSCR, PFEER, PSR, MAR, DCR) and main regulatory bodies.
  • Ensuring major hazards are effectively assessed, evaluated and managed in accordance with relevant statutory and corporate requirements.
  • Maintaining Operational Safety Cases and associated documentation for North Sea assets.
  • Assessment, evaluation and management of cumulative risk where Safety Critical Elements are identified as impaired.
  • Providing independent technical safety engineering advice on modifications, technical queries, maintenance and projects to ensure that the company fulfills its responsibilities under the legal framework.
  • Chairing and attending ORAs and Bowtie Assessments as required.
  • Participation in HAZOPs/HAZIDs/HIRAs and SIL Assessments as required.
  • Identify and initiate safety studies and support external consultants carrying out these studies to ensure delivery of effective technical solutions.
  • Contributing to department internal reporting systems - KPIs.
  • Compliance with, and assisting with the preparation and implementation of corporate procedures.
  • Participation in internal and external safety and environmental audits.

Functional Requirements

Bachelor degree in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent, BOSIET / HUET, UK Oil & Gas Medical Certificate, Minimum Industry Safety Training (MIST), previous experience in petrochemical/offshore environment
