Based from and resident in the Lock-side office and accommodation, working within a duty ‘watch’ system of two weeks on duty, providing a continuous, 24 hour presence, followed by two weeks off duty;

The post is on a “Self-relieving shift pattern” basis which will require a certain amount of overtime to cover sickness etc.

The Department is responsible for the continuous, daily safe movement and berthing of all vessels within the port, berth preparation and marine structure maintenance, in accordance with the ports advertised policies and procedures required by the Port Marine Safety Code.

Together with the ports Technical Services, the Department manages the collection, consolidation and recycling of ship and port generated waste products and other port services.

Qualification, knowledge and experience;

Must be physically fit and qualified to;
• Able Seaman or,
• Efficient Deck Hand CoC or,
• MOD (Navy) qualifications or,
• Another formal marine qualification or,
• Experience working in a marine environment would be of advantage.

Previous experience working on vessels or in a marine environment.

Boat handling experience an advantage.

 

 

Language Requirements

Good knowledge of the English language is required.
