Electrical Engineering Superintendent (Ports) - Permanent - Kent, UK - £ Excellent package

One of the UK's leading ports is recruiting for an Electrical Engineering Superintendent to join the team in Kent.

Reporting to the Head of Marine Engineering, the main purpose of the role is to plan, design, specify and organise the replacement, major repair, routine maintenance and defect rectification for electrical installations and equipment in all Company property, plant and navigational installation locations.

Other key responsibilities will include (but not exhaustive to);

  • Managing the servicing, planned maintenance and defect rectification for electrical equipment, systems and installations in all Company property, plant and navigational equipment installation locations.
  • Providing the necessary health and safety assessments to ensure the safety of direct reports and those affected by their work.
  • Reviewing and approving the documentation of all appointed contractors
  • Managing the Company's electricians to effectively deliver maximum throughput while subsequently limiting the use of 3rd party contractors.
  • Ensuring that training requirements for direct reports are relevant and up to date.
  • Liability for overtime/out of hours working (given reasonable notice).

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level in an electrical engineering discipline, with appropriate experience in a similar capacity.

The successful candidate will have an extensive understanding of the requirements defined by the current version of BS 7671 (Wiring Regulations) and strong experience of designing and overseeing the installation of electrical solutions compliant with the regulations.

You will also have a background of effective, pragmatic and hands-on management, with broad experience and sound knowledge of industrial electrical and general engineering practice
