Technical Development Officer – Permanent – Remote, UK – Competitive package

This is a newly created role and an excellent opportunity to join a leading marine surveying / ship inspection business. Whilst it would be beneficial to live within a 1 hour commute from the office in Cardiff, would also consider fully remote for the right candidate.

The TDO role will offer day-to-day support to the technical department, ensuring that the templates and checklists used by the surveyor network are up to date and are the highest possible quality. They will suggest improvements and updates to the various technical resources and supporting systems as well as carry out research to ensure the company stays ahead of future expected changes in industry legislation and requirements

Responsibilities include:

• Assist in the development, implementation and management of new initiatives in regard to the technical
• Identify areas of improvement in our current checklists, templates and processes to ensure they remain industry
• Liaise with software development team to implement changes to checklists and
• Develop new checklists and templates for new and unique vessel
• Assist in the creation of bespoke client scopes as and when
• Monitor legislation, and conduct research into the latest safety regulations, legislation, and best practice to ensure both the company and our surveyors are up to date with the latest developments in the maritime

Experience Required;

• Strong work ethic
• Advanced understanding of various applications (MS Word, Adobe Pro etc)
• Excellent technical writing ability in English
• Degree educated (desirable)
• Good knowledge of International Maritime Regulations and Marine Industry standards
• Nautical or Engineering based degree and/or OOW (II/1) or EOOW (III/1)
• 2-5 years sea time (desirable)
• Chief Mate or 2nd Engineer experience (highly desirable)
