Marine Chartering Manager – Permanent – Geneva, Europe

Every year, Circle K sells 60 billion litres of fuel across our vast network in Europe, supplying our customers with a big variety of fuel qualities through our network.Circle K is currently establishing a commercial energy trading capacity to further commercialise and develop our fuel activities in our markets. This requires a change in the way we operate, how we set up our support functions, adapt our IT systems and more. A vital part of the initiative is to establish a designated commercial capacity in Geneva under a new company – Circle K Energy Trading. This capacity will manage the commercial decision making and trading activities across Europe. We are already well underway to launch, and are looking for fuel professionals who are willing to try something new, take an entrepreneurial step, still being supported by a strong fundament of fuel retail legacy in our markets.

ROLE
This role will be responsible for fulfilling the organization’s ship chartering requirements by liaising with ship-owners, traders, or charterers directly and through a ship broker to ensure that ships deliver the cargo safely in the most cost effective manner. Building the Marine Chartering business as part of the Circle K Energy Trading initiative in Geneva, meanwhile helping to develop the freight risk management and supporting the activities. The critical focus of the Marine Chartering Manager is to ensure cargos are booked within the risk policy of the company, in a timely and cost effective manner. This should be combined with adherence to the company’s legal policy and the laws and rules governing Circle K and the commodity trading. Helping in the development of the freight activity within the company framework.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Total of minimum 10 years industry experience within the maritime or commodity trading industry
  • Minimum 5 years experience directly in marine chartering in LR1, LR2 and MR tanker markets.
  • Experience and proven track record with spot charters is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of a broad range of charterparties and the full chartering process.
  • Driven by change and have a business mentality.
  • Commercial and legal mind set.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, fluency in English written and oral.
