Senior Operator (Dry Bulk) - Permanent - London - Highly Competitive

A leading Shipping business in London is looking for a Senior Operator to join the busy Dry Bulk team.

The main function of the position is the day-to-day operation of vessels, working closely with Chartering Managers, Colleagues, Masters, Agents and Brokers in order to ensure the performance of safe and efficient voyages.

Other key responsibilities include;

• Close scrutiny of the relevant recap, charter party, fixture note and voyage estimate.
• Plan the voyage having regard for profitability, safe operational limits, bunker consumption, speed, cargo hold preparation, cargo lift, stowage, vessel routing and the relevant restrictions and requirements for the voyage.
• Prepare and issue orders to the Master for voyage or time charter employment of the vessel.
• Close monitoring and supervision of the voyage in co-operation with the Master and agents with the aim of maximising income within safe operational limits.
• Monitor vessel performance and handle any performance claims received or made
• Handle any claims that are made as a result of stevedore damage to vessel.
• Handle any cargo related claims and take the necessary support and advice to do this.
• Handle any claims or disputes with Charterers and Owners and take the necessary support and advice to do this.
• Issue Incident Reports as required.
• Manage the relationships with agents, brokers, surveyors, suppliers and masters.
• Regular update of port information, operational files and other safety related issues.

The successful candidate will have experience in a similar position ashore and seafaring experience will be seen as an advantage.
You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and strong time management.
