Manual Machinist – Permanent – Glasgow- £30,000 – £35,000

Navis Consulting are looking for a Manual Machinist with the experience of working on machines from Milling, turning, boring machines. Looking for experience in a variety of materials working with drawings and complex components. Must have a good eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities:

• Machining of complex parts on a variety machines
• Working with Castings and various metals and materials
• Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings and instructions
• Confident in using hand and power tools, overhead cranes and measuring equipment
• Be able to take and record quality measurements
• Maintaining a safe, clean and efficient work environment
• Being able to work with in a team and also alone and to join in with set activities
• Preferably 5 years of working experience in a production or maintenance environment of mechanical installations
• Experience within the marine industry or propulsion installations is seen as an advantage
• Knowledge in repair procedures like machining and welding
• Ensure that the work is executed according to the Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines and procedures
• Be adaptable to carry out work in the thruster overhaul facility when required
• Security clearance required
• Forklift Counter Balance/Reach Licence

What do we expect from you?

• HND/HNC Apprenticeship served qualification within mechanical engineering is advantageous.
• A valid driver’s license is required for this role, due to the varied amounts of domestic travel
• Can work well under pressure and deal with stressful situations methodically whilst working in a team
• Accountable for your tasks and responsibilities but work as a team
• Being able to time manage multiple jobs
• Accuracy and have an eye for detail
• Service-minded being flexible with working hours
