Manual Machinist – Permanent – Glasgow- £30,000 – £35,000
Navis Consulting are looking for a Manual Machinist with the experience of working on machines from Milling, turning, boring machines. Looking for experience in a variety of materials working with drawings and complex components. Must have a good eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machining of complex parts on a variety machines
- Working with Castings and various metals and materials
- Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings and instructions
- Confident in using hand and power tools, overhead cranes and measuring equipment
- Be able to take and record quality measurements
- Maintaining a safe, clean and efficient work environment
- Being able to work with in a team and also alone and to join in with set activities
- Preferably 5 years of working experience in a production or maintenance environment of mechanical installations
- Experience within the marine industry or propulsion installations is seen as an advantage
- Knowledge in repair procedures like machining and welding
- Ensure that the work is executed according to the Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines and procedures
- Be adaptable to carry out work in the thruster overhaul facility when required
- Security clearance required
- Forklift Counter Balance/Reach Licence
What do we expect from you?
- HND/HNC Apprenticeship served qualification within mechanical engineering is advantageous.
- A valid driver’s license is required for this role, due to the varied amounts of domestic travel
- Can work well under pressure and deal with stressful situations methodically whilst working in a team
- Accountable for your tasks and responsibilities but work as a team
- Being able to time manage multiple jobs
- Accuracy and have an eye for detail
- Service-minded being flexible with working hours
