Assistant Vessel Manager (LNG) – Permanent – Glasgow – Competitive package

This is an excellent opportunity to join a global shipping company based in Glasgow.

Starting under the direction and supervision of an experienced Vessel Manager, the Assistant Vessel Manager will build their knowledge and experience so that by 18 months in position, they have full-time responsibility of two vessels.

The role acts as an intermediate step to Vessel Manager.

Assistant Vessel Managers are expected to build their knowledge and experience in preparation for promotion to Vessel Manager. They are to fully familiarize themselves with all aspects of ship management. They will be supported to do this by the Fleet Manager, Vessel Manager, and Marine & Technical Services groups.

Responsibilities include;

• Ensure vessels are operated in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner, ensuring compliance with Class and Statutory and Company regulations.
• Under supervision of the Vessel Manager provide day to day Technical and Operational support and guidance to assigned vessels.
• Monitor vessel performance and ensure follow up action in conjunction with the supervising Vessel Manager.
• Full familiarization with management of vessel budgets and budget creation with full accountability of assigned vessels.
• Assist with planning and execution of scheduled & unscheduled dry-dockings and major repairs.

Experience Required:

• Maritime Certificate of Competency Class II engineer/deck or higher and/or relevant experience
• Demonstrates teamwork, interpersonal and communications skills.
• Knowledge of technical operations for the vessel types managed.
• Knowledge of propulsion plant onboard vessels managed.
• Knowledge of cargo containment system, cargo handling equipment and systems on board vessels managed.

Preferred

• LNG experience.
