Design Engineer Manager

We are representing a consultancy that specialise in the design for the offshore marine industry. Due to growth they need to employ a talented design engineering manager to join the team in February/March 2015. Excellent salary and Private Medical Cover, 25 days annual leave + public holidays

Must have following:-

Qualifications:

• Degree Qualified or equivalent marine engineering background
• Chartered Engineer Status

Responsibilities (on all types of commercial vessels and yachts):

• To act as Engineering Manager.
• Responsible for a small but dedicated team of engineers
• Develop and provide concept and detailed design for commercial and Superyacht vessels
• Carry out on-site technical surveys as required
• Provide technical support to our legal division & other business units
• Act as local ISO 9001 Quality Assurance representative - full training will be provided
• Provide support to clients with refit specifications and on-site support as required
• Provide regular on-site yard meetings for New Build projects
• Work closely with Naval Architects in the development of new vessel designs
• Develop and review vessel technical specifications in conjunction with Naval Architects
• Generate full technical proposals including costs and resourcing
• Act as project manager to see projects through to conclusion
• Develop client relationships and assist with business development
• Preparing, reviewing and approving design drawings and calculations
• Attending commissioning HATs & SATs
• Detailed knowledge of Classification Societies, Flag Administrations and IMO Rules and Regulations.

Skills Required:

• Fully compliant with the basic Microsoft Office suite, specifically Outlook, Word and Excel. Compliant also with CAD software such as Microstation, AutoCAD & Rhino
• Professional standards of technical report writing
• Design of marine systems
• Good knowledge of shipboard operations Re: system design and integration

Other Requirements:

• Passport (No restrictions)
• Full driving licence
• Overseas travel as required
• Must speak English and ideally currently reside in the UK.
