A well-known telecommunication company in London is seeking a Project Planner/Controller to join the team on a permanent basis. In this role you will be responsible for managing a project’s schedule with the support of the project team, you will also measure the project’s progress by verifying the progress of the planned figures with the actual ones.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and coordination of the project progress measurement plan (Plan of Work/POW – the detailed project schedule);
  • Documenting and monitoring of progress inside the POW or by using additional tools such as Excel or PowerPoint for project metrics;
  • Preparing and presenting updates of project schedules to Customers as required by project teams;
  • Identifying changes and recommending preventative actions;
  • Monitoring adherence of a project’s schedule with the agreed plan(s) both internal and external (Customer focused) if appropriate;
  • Collaborating with the project team to maintain and update the project schedule on a regular basis;
  • Identifying the critical paths, dependencies across projects and alerting Project teams of areas of conflict, priority issues, bottlenecks and associated consequences on project;
  • Supporting project managers in monthly reporting of costs, progress, and related metrics;
  • Supporting and acting with Project planning team for internal improvement projects.
  • Supporting internal Project reporting processes (e.g. Consolidated marine planning).

Requirements:

  • Degree in business, business administration, project management or equivalent
  • PMI or Prince 2 certification preferred but not essential
  • Meticulous attention to detail and high standards of presentation
  • Ability to analyse, synthesise, summarise and present concisely
  • Good interpersonal skills: persuasiveness, maturity and tact
  • Excellent team player, but also self-motivated and adaptable
  • Ability to work proactively to tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment
  • Accountability, creativity, pro-activity and problem solving
  • Ability to quickly develop a technical appreciation of submarine cable projects
  • Good IT skills, especially in the management of complex and non-numerical data
  • Competence in another language (especially French and/or Spanish) would be advantageous
  • Occasional overseas travel as required, possibly at short notice
  • Project Management tools: MS Project (mandatory), MS office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint). Experience of Primavera useful but not mandatory.
  • Project Management knowledge (contract, change management, risk analysis)
  • Documentation management (information management & documentation control methodology)

Applicants must have an existing right to live and work in the UK and be able to travel in and out of the country freely.
You should also live within a commutable distance to London.
