We are currently looking for a Technical Superintendent for one of European Marine clients.
Details of requirements outlined below:-
1 TECHNICAL SUPERINTENDENT
In this function you assess and report the technical conditions and operational expenses for an assigned group of vessels in the fleet. You schedule and supervise planned and unplanned repairs, inspections and dry dockings. As Superintendent you are responsible for the class status of the vessel and for arranging surveys. You work as part of the Ship Management Team and report to the Managing Director.
Your duties in this function will be in particular :
- Providing technical support to the Operations Department, and as part of the Operations team regularly discuss and implement ideas and procedures to further enhance the companies efficiency and profitability.
- Investigation of and identifying actual and potential technical causes of loss and proposing and implementing corrective and/or preventative action.
- Vessel(technical) inspections.
- Assistance during SOLAS, CLASS and other mandatory surveys.
- SMS implementation (Technical matters) on board of the ships and in office
- Evaluation of machinery and ship performances.
- P&I Surveys
- Development and maintenance of purchasing and SMS system to set company standards.
- Ships store Inventory and Spare parts control.
- Supplies spare parts and vessel's provision. Suppliers selection
- Spare parts and supplies documentation.
- Development of company procedures and goals.
- Preparation and upkeep of Purchase Orders and their traceable filing system.
- Liaison with freight forwarders to expedite delivery of orders in a timely manner ensuring relevant documentation is prepared.
To excel in this function you have a Higher Vocational/Technical Education in the field of Marine/Mechanical Engineering or Ship Building/Repair, supplemented by extensive experience as a Chief Engineer/First Engineer onboard TUGS. You have strong planning and organisational skills, are willing to travel frequently and work well under pressure. Excellent verbal and written communication and reporting skills in English are essential.
Ideal candidates will have an Italian COC although not essential it would be beneficial as would Italian Speaking.

Good knowledge of the English language is required.
Certificates and Qualifications
Mandatory STCW certificates are required from all applicants.
