Assistant Technical Superintendent (Tankers) – Permanent – Barrow/Glasgow – Competitive Package

This is a great opportunity to join a reputable ship management company. The role will be on a hybrid working basis with an anticipated 2-3 days a week in the office (Either Barrow or Glasgow) with the remainder WFH

Responsibilities include:

• To monitor vessels speed and consumption at sea and consumption in port, together with the efficient operation of the cargo gear, cargo and ballast pumps, inert gas system, and tank cleaning equipment, together with other deck and safety equipment.
• To monitor vessels Class and trading certificates with the Marine Department, to ensure timely renewal and/or survey.
• To keep abreast of technical developments and make suggestions regarding their application to the owners and managers. To attend seminars and conferences as required.
• To assist in prepare maintenance, repair, spare gear, dry-docking, stores and luboil budgets, together with monthly cash expenditure on all budgeted items
• To be responsible, under superintendent, for such vessels in accordance with the company’s quality and safety management system policies

Experience Required:

• Qualified to at least STCW III/2 second engineer and / or have a Degree in a Marine Engineering related discipline.
• Developed Engineering professional with an understanding and experience of engineering and technical processes in the Marine Industry.
• Extensive experience as a sea-going Engineer
• Ideally minimum 1 years relevant shore based technical experience to include, technical management, knowledge of port and vessel operations, maintenance, Flag and Class requirements/regulations, Budgetary management experience.
• Familiarity and positive attitude to the use and importance of Technical Management systems Project and programme management expertise.
• Detailed knowledge and experience of requirements covered by ISM, knowledge of standards ISO 9001 and 14000
