Shipping Customs Coordinator – Permanent – UK Based – £28k-£30k plus £4k allowance
This is an excellent opportunity to join a reputable shipping agency who are experiencing a sustained period of growth. The role can be remote or based out of one of the UK based port agency offices
This is a newly created position and will form a specialist customs operation with initial focus on serving existing accounts in the O&G shipping sector but with plans to diversify. The aim is to expand and develop a dedicated team, of which the role holder will be a key and founding member.
Responsibilities include:
- Liaise with local port agency offices and designated clients in the handling of day-to-day customs clearance operations.
- Request necessary export or import documentation, such as customs invoices, certificates of origin, Bills of Lading etc.
- Create and submit import and export declarations using the customs declaration system, ASM Sequoia.
- Access CHIEF directly for updating and managing customs entries.
- Access Port Community systems to assist local port offices with the manifesting of vessels and cargo.
- Manage the customs implications for domestic UK cruises such as identifying applicable voyages, calculating the duty and tariff payments owed on bonded store consumption and submission of W50 Form.
- Ensure excellent services are provided to all customers by responding in accordance with the agreed Service Level Agreements (SLA) and keeping the customer regularly informed throughout
Experience Required:
- In-depth knowledge of customs processes, procedures and regulations ideally in a shipping environment.
- Experience of using customs software.
- An understanding of shipping documentation
- Holds a Customs qualification (desirable) or willing to work towards qualification.
- Able to effectively manage own work and work unsupervised
- Hold a full UK driving license and be willing to travel across the UK to visit port agency offices and meet with customers.
