Cable Route Engineer – London

A market leading network organisation are currently recruiting for someone to join the team as a Cable Route Engineer. You will work on all aspects of Cable Route Engineering for submarine cable systems including the compilation of Cable Route Study Reports, threat & risk evaluations, liaise with sub-contractors and customers, perform site visits, oversee marine survey activities, cable routing and protection selection and quality control of reported deliverables.

Responsibilities:

• Responsibility for all aspects of Cable Route Studies (desk top studies and site visits), database compilation and chart production using ESRI ARCGIS software.
• Carry out cable route engineering using Makai Plan (on Geomedia GIS), generating Route Position Lists (RPLs) and Straight Line Diagrams (SLDs) for cable manufacturing and installation.
• Review and perform quality control of the Marine Survey Reports delivered to the company prior to customer deliver.
• Work efficiently as part of a team, seeing projects through from initial feasibility studies to marine survey and up to installation phase.

Predominantly an office based role, there will also be opportunity for offshore work and worldwide travel (including site visits, customer & sub-contractor meetings, survey operations) within each project lifecycle.

Requirements:

• Degree in Hydrographic Survey or a related Earth Sciences subject.
• You may be a graduate or an experienced professional in Hydrographic Surveying or similar
• Good knowledge of GIS packages
• An ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally with suppliers and customers, delivering presentations in a confident and professional manner.
• Self-motivated, flexible and cooperative within a dedicated team working in a matrix structure for the successful delivery of company projects.
