Container Securing Senior Specialist (Lloyd’s Register) – Permanent – Southampton – Highly Competitive 

ARM is delighted to be partnering with Lloyd's Register to support the Marine & Offshore sector with current and upcoming recruitment projects.

An opportunity has arisen for a Container Securing Senior Specialist working in the Marine & Offshore Structures team to be based in Southampton.

As part of a small and dedicated team, you will be primarily working on development and approval of container securing arrangements/software, loading instruments and ship modifications. Your work will also involve providing technical support to local and global clients and surveyors on the subject of ship structure analysis and answering a wide range of complex technical queries.  

Duties will include;

  • Working as senior member of the Ships & Floating Structures team carrying out projects related to the development of ship container securing systems and integration of corresponding rules in technical workflows and software tool, developing onboard lashing software and related client support activities, carrying out design appraisal and consultancy activity against a range of Class Rules and statutory codes.
  • Providing specialist technical advice related to design and analysis of container securing structures to internal and external clients globally at a senior level, which will include designers, shipyards and other LR surveyors and specialists.
  • To take the lead and undertake management of projects and produce the deliverable within the agreed broad parameters in an appropriate format.
  • To pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness of LR’s rules and procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards.
  • Mentoring, coaching and developing other employees, as appropriate, to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application.
  • Contributing to the bid and win processes for new projects by accurately estimating time requirements and developing scopes of work.
  • Actively seeking to ensure client satisfaction and to generate new opportunities with existing clients.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working within a similar capacity within the container securing field and will have experience in development of linear, semi-nonlinear and nonlinear solvers to assess loads on containers and container securing systems.

You will also have sound technical skills in construction design and analysis of container securing structures and good knowledge of loads and in-depth knowledge of numerical structural and hydrodynamic simulations analysis and their application to marine and offshore structures.

Experience in use of finite element analysis software for modelling and analysis of ship structure and other commercial engineering software. FEM report analysis skills is advantageous.

The individual should also have knowledge in developing computational codes for calculation arthrogram (C++, C#).

The candidate should have a degree (or equivalent) in Naval Architecture, Structural Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering

Proficiency in the English Language (written and oral) commensurate with the work and an ability to write clear and detailed technical reports, guidelines and proposals.
