Structural Research & Procedures Senior Specialist (Lloyd’s Register) – Permanent – Southampton – Highly Competitive 

ARM is delighted to be partnering with Lloyd's Register to support the Marine & Offshore sector with current and upcoming recruitment projects.

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Specialist working in the Structural Research & Procedure team as part of the UK & Ireland Technical Support Office. This role is based in Southampton.

As part of a small and dedicated team, you will be primarily working on the development of ship structural analysis procedures, rules and research topics related to strength, fatigue and vibration of ship structure. Your work will also involve providing technical support to local and global clients and surveyors on the subject of ship structure analysis; and answering a wide range of complex technical queries. 

Duties will include;

• Working as senior member of the Structural Research & Procedure team carrying out projects related to the development of ship structural analysis procedures, rules and research topics primarily on the strength, fatigue and vibration of ship structure.
• To take the lead and undertake management of projects and produce the deliverable within the agreed broad parameters in an appropriate format. Take responsibility to review other employees’ work as requested.
• Providing specialist technical advice related to ship structural analysis to internal and external clients globally at a senior level, which will include designers, shipyards and other LR surveyors and specialists.
• To pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness of LR’s rules and procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
• Mentoring, coaching and developing other employees, as appropriate, to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application.
• Contribute to the bid and win processes for new projects by accurately estimating time requirements and developing scopes of work.
• Actively seeking to ensure client satisfaction and to generate new opportunities with existing clients.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a similar capacity and demonstrate good knowledge of loads and in-depth knowledge of structural analysis methods, including finite element analysis, fatigue and vibration analysis and their application to marine and offshore structures.

Experience in use of finite element analysis software for modelling and analysis of ship structure and other commercial engineering software is advantageous.

It is preferable that the individual should have knowledge in developing computational codes for calculation arthrogram.

The successful candidate will have a degree (or equivalent) in Naval Architecture, Structural Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering

Proficiency in the English Language (written and oral) commensurate with the work and an ability to write clear and detailed technical reports, guidelines and proposals.
