Engineering Planning Lead (Ferries) - Scotland – Permanent – Highly Competitive Salary

A leading Ship Owner and Operator based near Glasgow is currently recruiting for an Engineering Planner Lead to join the busy team.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering Performance & Policy, the successful candidate will review new and second hand vessel engineering requirements and ensure they are established, co-ordinated and fed into the technical department.

Other responsibilities will include;

  • Providing day to day link to New Build and Second hand Operational Planning Project Teams.
  • Planning Projects. Co-ordinating all requests for information and review of documentation/
  • Responsibility for the creation of the planned maintenance schedule including class survey and inspection requirements, statutory survey and inspection requirements, equipment planned maintenance, condition monitoring regimes and any other maintenance for incoming second hand and new tonnage.
  • For Second hand tonnage, this will include establishing the full maintenance baseline, what surveys, inspections and maintenance has been completed at date of handover and anything that is outstanding, historical dry dockings dates and work and current running hours of relevant equipment.
  • Identification of any anomalies and working with owners, through the Operational Planning Project Teams, to ensure the vessel is technically ready for handover with no significant maintenance outstanding that would risk service or require drop in service prior to the first overhaul.
  • Working with the internal stakeholders to identify the overhaul and docking schedule, establishing the baseline for overhaul schedule once in service including preferred yard, date and interaction with vessel deployment and cascade plans for overhaul relief programme.
  • Ensuring all technical documentation, processes, software, systems and websites are updated to take into account introduction (and removal) of tonnage.
  • Utilising communication and influencing skills to develop strong relationships with all stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have experience of working within vessel management or new build vessel introduction and co-ordination of maintenance activity (both planned and unplanned is highly desirable) and have sailing experience as a Senior Marine Engineer.

A qualification in project planning will be considered advantageous.

You will also have excellent communication and organisation skills and be able to demonstrate an ability to build close working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
