Senior Metallurgist (Lloyd’s Register) – Permanent – Southampton or Aberdeen (+ Flexible Working) – Highly Competitive
ARM is delighted to be partnering with Lloyd's Register to support the Marine & Offshore sector with current and upcoming recruitment projects.
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Metallurgist to join the Marine & Offshore Materials team – a small group of experts who specialise in metallurgy, materials manufacturing, materials engineering, welding, non-destructive examination, composites and coatings - who are based in Southampton and in Aberdeen.
You will work in the Metallurgy team - certifying processes, manufacturers and products, as well as providing global support to internal and external clients during design appraisal and fabrication activities.
With an excellent opportunity for hybrid office and home-based working, you will also be contributing to the development of new rules and procedures, guiding and analysing research into new materials technologies and delivering training.
To be considered for this excellent opportunity, you will have a degree (or equivalent) in Metallurgy or Materials Engineering.
You will also have proven experience within a Metallurgist or Materials Engineering position and have experience within metallic materials manufacturing (steelmaking, rolling, forging, casting).
This experience will have been gained from a Marine, Offshore or Classification Society environment, although other relevant industries may be considered.
You will be driven, adaptable and excellent at providing solutions. You will also be motivated to learn and explore but also have the attention to follow the Rules, codes, standards and process with continued contributions to their development.
You must also be responsive to urgent requests for technical advice and have the ability to plan and prioritise your routine and workload.
To be considered for this role, you must have proficiency in the English language and the ability to work and communicate effectively with colleagues globally.
Why join Lloyd’s Register?
- You will be part of an independent organisation with a positive purpose and strong principles.
- You will be part of a team of experienced specialists who are enthusiastic about their subjects and are committed to professional development and to maintaining high technical standards.
- A competitive annual salary if you have the precise blend of technical skills and experience.
- Big company benefits including 25 days’ holiday, private health cover and lots more.
- Brilliant work-life balance, with the beautiful South coast or Aberdeenshire on your doorstep.
- A world of opportunity. Succeed in this role and there are many different, interesting career routes for you to explore.
