Navis Consulting are currently looking for General Terminal Operatives

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for Permanent General Terminal Operatives to join a leading port operating company, based in Southampton with attractive long-term job stability and an opportunity to see the world. Our client operates the Port and provides port services to the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

In this exciting and varied role, you will carry out cargo operations including the mooring of vessels, loading/unloading and securing of cargo. Full training will be provided for the use of specialised heavy plant and machinery with industry qualifications.

As part of the role, there will be opportunities to deploy worldwide on short assignments (2-5 days; Africa, Middle East, Europe, America etc.) to meet and discharge/load the vessels. There will also be opportunities to deploy for longer durations (up to 6 months) to carry out vessel operations.

This role is also suitable for serving Army, Navy or RAF Reservists who can transfer across without repeating the Forces application process subject to terms and conditions.

Essential requirements

• Experience in Stevedoring/Port Operations
• Be a UK or Commonwealth Citizen
• Resided in the UK for the last 5 years.
• Valid full UK driving licence.
• Valid passport with minimum of six months remaining at all times.
• Physically fit – able to pass a fitness medical.
• Prepared and able to work at heights and enclosed spaces.
• Able to pass UK Government Security Clearance
• Sign Official Secrets Act
• Transferable skills
• To work in compliance with safety, environmental and security policies
• Aptitude to learn new skills and have a flexible outlook.
