Port Manager (Towage) - Permanent - Kent, UK - Highly Competitive
A leading towage organisation is currently recruiting for a Port Manager to lead the London operation, based in Kent.
The main area of responsibility will be the opportunity to grow the business, taking on responsibility for planning, directing and leading all activities within the Company's London operation.
Other responsibilities will include;
- Implementing business strategy to maximise profitability within your operation.
- Assisting the Cluster MD and Commercial Team in business development/ sales activities, including the preparation of commercial/business development tenders.
- Monitoring and controlling the port operating budget to ensure that all resources are deployed effectively and that the port is running at optimal operational efficiency.
- To protect all assets and ensuring they are properly maintained.
- To seek continual improvements in service to the Company’s customers.
- Managing the relationship with the Port Authority, other statutory bodies and community groups.
- Proactively support the Company’s commitment to safety, ensuring that all operations are risk assessed, adequately resourced and all appropriate procedures are completed.
- Ensuring, in liaison with Marine Standards, all accidents are fully investigated and incident reports prepared.
- Managing and being accountable for all daily activities of shoreside and crews within the operation.
The successful individual will have extensive experience in a managerial role within a commercial business; industries other than Maritime/Shipping will be considered.
You will also have strong commercial acumen, have experience of working with and managing budgets and have a strong understanding of how to drive engagement and culture.
Thorough understanding of health and safety and experience of Marine Standards i.e. ISM, would be advantageous.
Personal attributes will include the ability to think strategically, excellent leadership and influencing skills and strong team working skills.

Work Experience Requirements
All applicants must have previous experience in working on ships.
Language Requirements
Good knowledge of the English language is required.
Certificates and Qualifications
Mandatory STCW certificates are required from all applicants.
