Job Description as Tax Manager with Stork:

Ensure compliance with tax regulations in all jurisdictions of the Business Line, optimise its tax position by using available tax planning opportunities and provide tax support and advice to the business, manage tax risks and to maintain good relationships with tax authorities, in order to contribute to the realization of the business objectives in an effective and efficient manner.

Tasks and Responsibilities as Tax Manager:

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations (income tax, vat, tax, withholding tax, etc.) in all jurisdictions in which the Business Line operates
  • Ensure implementation of and compliance with the Stork/Fluor Tax Management policies in the Business
  • Develop and promote, in cooperation with Group Tax, plans, policies, procedures and templates that will achieve the strategic objectives, support the operating entities and maintain fiscal health
  • Identify and communicate to Stork Group Tax and Business Line management team any ongoing or new tax technical aspects/issues, benefits, and risks
  • Check that the tax information is duly recorded in the company's accounts.
  • Maintain good relationships with Tax Authorities
  • Manage external advisers

Tax returns

  • Preparation and/or review of the tax returns in the Business Line jurisdictions
  • Ensure the filing of tax returns in accordance with current regulations
  • Provide tax support to the business
  • Lead/Assist with identifying, documenting, complying and defending key tax issues (e.g. transfer pricing, permanent establishments, withholding tax, indirect tax, funding, etc.)
  • Act as tax specialist for the operating entities within the Business Line
  • Check that the tax information is duly recorded in the company's accounts
  • Provide tax information to the financial reporting area.

Tax advice and support

  • Provide tax support to the business
  • Advise the internal client in tax matters both in the execution of contracts and in new business opportunities.
  • Provides financial accounting staff with technical tax advice and assistance in tax matters as necessary
  • Prepares and carries out initial investigations into tax issues.
  • Prepares reports and studies for management as requested
  • Act as tax specialist for the operating entities within the Business Line

Tax Accounting

  • Ensure tax reporting schedules are included in the reporting system
  • Complete monthly, quarterly and annual tax reports as applicable
  • Calculation of current and deferred tax positions

Tax Control

  • Maintain a tax control framework
  • Implement a tax control framework in the various jurisdictions of the business line
  • Periodic monitoring of proper execution/effectiveness of key controls through samples/tests

Leadership

  • Keep knowledge on tax regulations up to date by reading articles, visiting seminars, etc.
  • Prioritize the tax agenda considering the resources available while still providing support to the business on a day to day basis
  • Convince the organisation about the importance/added value of the tax department; manage expectations
  • Identify opportunities and executes improvements
  • Lead, manage and develop assigned staff

Job requirements

Specific Requirements for Tax Manager:

Education & Experience

  • Master's degree
  • Extensive experience in tax management roles
  • Very good knowledge of (constantly changing) tax regulations and processes in jurisdictions and thorough knowledge in his major jurisdiction.
