CNC Operator (G-Code) – Permanent – Northamptonshire – Competitive (+Overtime)

CNC Operator required for a globally renowned manufacturer of luxury motor yachts. Due to further expansion and a busy production schedule our client has an immediate vacancy to support the manufacture of their range of luxury motor yachts. The successful candidate will know how to operate CNC machinery and have an understanding of how the machinery functions. They will assist with both setup and day-to-day operations. As well as inspecting machines and ensuring they are maintained so production processes continue smoothly and safely. This role would suit experienced CNC professionals from other industry sectors (Aero/Auto) who are able to consistently produce work to a high standard, with a “get it right first time” attitude, maximising quality and productivity while minimising waste.

The main responsibilities for this role are: –

Main Duties

  • Knowledge of G-code commands/determine sequence of machine operations.
  • Operating / minding of semi-automatic machinery and selection of materials needed.
  • Operate the CNC router machine and all other machines in the area, machine calibration.
  • Operate and program the CNC extrusion machining Centre, utilising the propriety software (Shapes), ensuring the optimum process to achieve minimal material wastage and optimum machine utilisation, with a high standard of quality and with continuous improvement.
  • Liaise with the design engineer to remove any ambiguity or resolve any product queries, ensuring a high level of accuracy.
  • Assist with the operation of a full maintenance programme in accordance with the Machine manufacturer’s guidelines and ensure that the machines, tools and working areas are kept clean and tidy ready to carry out the next task.
  • Concise and clear part labelling / complete inspection reports.
  • Good working knowledge and experience of working with CNC Punch Presses, including setting, programming and operating, with references to support this.
  • Good working knowledge and experience of working with CNC Brake Presses, including setting, programming and operating, with references to support this.

Candidate skills & qualifications: –

  • CNC / CAM manufacturing experience.
  • It would be an advantage to have a marine industry background.
  • Proficient within 2D and 3D CAD software, for example Siemens NX, Woodwop, Sigmanest / AlphaCAM etc.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • There is the opportunity in the future to train for additional role specific qualifications and certificates.
  • Reporting to the Section Supervisor, daily production will follow the production plan.
  • Working to time set by the Master Production Schedule and must be finished to the correct quality set by the Manufacturing Standards.

This role is quite physical and requires patience and pride in your work as well as excellent time keeping, good housekeeping and a flexible approach to the daily working routine.

A competitive hourly rate with generous overtime, shift premiums and benefits available.

Working hours are Monday to Thursday 0700 – 1730 with overtime available on Friday and weekends.
