At ARM we are looking for an experienced Capesize Operations Manager to join our client in Switzerland who are a market leader in Dry Cargo Commodity Trading.

You will be joining an established worldwide shipping team who will require you to look after Capesize Operations activities for the Atlantic region. This new role is part of the business' expansion plans to support 3rd party business.

Responsibilities:

  • All Pre-post Fixture planning and operations of all aspects of the voyage ranging from understanding the contract / charter party, executing the voyage seamlessly.
  • Excellent organisational skills focused on financial understanding/impacts
  • Preparation of cargoes and bunkers calculations – Voyage Planning
  • Appointing agents, surveyors and port captains
  • Communication with owners, charterers, brokers, traders
  • Keep voyage P&L in check and finalise voyages
  • Constructively handle and settle claims together with commercial and legal teams
  • Voyage planning, including optimising bunker planning in co-ordination with our in-house bunker trader.
  • Raise Hire Statement, Freight statement, lay time calculation and ensure timely receipts of freight, charter hire, demurrage and other outstanding debts
  • Issue voyage instructions/other commercial instructions and generally keep a close liaison with the Master to ensure vessel performs as per charter party terms.
  • Monitor vessels daily performance at sea and in port to minimise delays, claims and/or disputes
  • Manage loading and discharging operations to ensure quick turnaround time in port.
  • Closely monitor noon reporting on vessels position on a regular basis
  • Calculate Optimal Speed/Consumption prior any given voyage leg.

Desired Qualities/Skills:

  • Strong experience as a dry cargo operator dealing with Capesize vessels.
  • Has a good knowledge / understanding of Dry Bulk Shipping including commercial and market valuations of cargoes and tonnage
  • Must have the ability to work independently, be entrepreneurial minded, hardworking and a structured team player.
  • Experience with the SoftMar (Preferred)/IMOS integrated voyage handling system is mandatory.
  • Experience with D/A Desk Module
  • IT literate.

Work Experience Requirements

All applicants must have previous experience in working on ships.

Language Requirements

Good knowledge of the English language is required.
