Project Engineer (LNG) - Permanent - London - Competitive

A leading LNG shipping company with a global presence is recruiting for a Project Engineer to join the team in London.

Reporting to the Fleet Services Manager, key responsibilities include (but not exhaustive to);

  • Supporting the Fleet Teams in engineering projects and the implementation of modifications and improvements to fleet vessels.
  • Preparing projects (outside contractors and in-house) and budget proposals.
  • Controlling costs of approved projects and manage any deviation during the timeline of the project.
  • Management of approved projects at repair periods, either during voyage or in dock.
  • Coordination and implementation of in-house projects and engineering studies.
  • Reporting to fleet teams and other stakeholders with regard to the performance status of fleet vessels, as per the SMS.
  • Monitoring new technologies, regulating bodies, flag administrations and Class Societies for changes in requirements and new legislations.
  • Implementation of new engineering practices and procedures.
  • Monitoring performance of fleet vessels in accordance with the Time Charter Party performance criteria and SMS, and report any deviations from the baseline.

The successful individual will have previous experience in a similar position ashore and will hold a Class 1 Marine Engineer certificate or Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Naval Architecture.

You will have an excellent understanding of technical operations of different types of LNG/C, have a strong understanding of cargo containment systems, cargo handling equipment and auxiliary systems on board managed vessels along with basic automation and electrical knowledge.

The ideal individual will have a desire to drive continuous improvement in maintenance and operational condition of existing companies and new vessels and be able to deliver quality, economical and intuitive solutions.

Work Experience Requirements

All applicants must have previous experience in working on ships.

Language Requirements

Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Certificates and Qualifications

Mandatory STCW certificates are required from all applicants.
