Operations Manager (Towage) – Permanent Rotational  – Soyo, Angola – Competitive package

A leading towage organisation operating on a global basis is currently recruiting for an experienced Operations Manager to lead the operations in Soyo, Angola.

This role is responsible to the Country Manager for Angola for the operational management, maintenance and condition of all vessels under management of the Company.

Key responsibilities include;

  • Management and administration of Marine Operations matters. 
  • Management and control of vessel maintenance and deck-side technical matters
  • Ensure compliance with all Class, Flag and Statutory Certification for all vessels, liaise closely with the Technical Manager for technical/engineering side of surveys.
  • Management of Masters, Skippers and Chief Officers to ensure compliance with Company processes and procedures at all times
  • Work closely with Client's representatives to ensure a full understanding of tug capabilities is maintained across operations and address Client concerns on delivery of the service
  • Conduct regular safety drills and exercises to ensure the required standards are maintained on all vessels
  • Ensure all incidents and accidents are reported and investigated as appropriate
  • Ensure vessel and crew compliance with Marine Standards requirements.
  • Act as Company Representative on the local Port Security Committee in Soyo
  • Provide and maintain a high level of customer service
  • Oversight and control of day to day crew management including crew rostering
  • Preparation of docking, class surveys, maintenance and repair budgets, and monitoring of expenditure, preparation of docking specifications and reports
  • Control and optimisation of operational costs

The successful candidate will have sailed as a Master Mariner on board ASD Tugs and have shore-based experience in a similar Management level capacity.

The individual will possess budget formulation, monitoring and cost management skills along with effective communication skills, including negotiation and project management skills

African continent experience is beneficial but not essential.

This is a rotational role working 2 months on/2 months off.

Work Experience Requirements

All applicants must have previous experience in working on ships.

Language Requirements

Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Certificates and Qualifications

Mandatory STCW certificates are required from all applicants.
