Senior Civil Works Engineer (Project Management) – UK

A position has become available for a Senior Civil Works Engineer within a large and well-established submarine company based in London. The majority of time will be spent in office with a strong project management focus. There will also be international travel to sites for short periods of time.

Responsibilities:

• Day to day oversight of the construction contractors project delivery, requirements, safety, quality, street works, and overall performance
• Ensuring “Safety First” and “Right First Time” culture across the field operations backed up through plans and engagement with suppliers
• Establishing and providing follow up on required permissions, ensuring they are obtained in good time
• Ensuring accidents, incidents and near misses, quality failures and service deterioration trends are investigated competently, and appropriate corrective action taken.
• Through a close working relationship, identifying at the earliest opportunity risks to delivering the budget, and/ or cost impacting upon the project
• Managing the operational relationship with all suppliers, and have monitoring in place to ensure that the company’s requirements are adhered to
• Overseeing the project schedules, budgetary and cost control for each project
• Following up contract variation and associated cost
• Providing clarification of costings in close relationship with the Finance and Purchasing teams
• Ensuring that performance standards & contractual KPI’s are met
• Site surveys and reporting of findings, including audit of performance and quality of work
• Establishing and maintain close working relationships with key partners and stakeholders
• Liaising closely and providing timely and accurate periodical reports to the Project team
• Supporting the Bid team on cost estimates, and construction requirements
• Providing advice on and maintenance of construction guidelines and specification
• Designing solutions based on the needs expressed by the client’s customers
• Assisting in the negotiation and review of the technical solutions
• Participating in the evaluation and selection of engineering and construction contractors
• Providing technical support to the Projects Team, and After Sales for any Remedial works
• Support to associated field operations, such as site visits, cable and system earth installation, Horizontal Directional Drilling, further Landfall Operations and the Civil Works Competence Centre
• An understanding of Horizontal Direct Drilling techniques, ideally with an element of practical exposure to HDD methodology’s and installations (land/land & land/offshore)

Requirements:

• Experience within the construction industry including project management, negotiation, engineering, computer aided design, construction and commissioning
• A working knowledge of construction and engineering contracts, QHSE and associated civil works regulations
• A proven track record of successfully managing teams, including contractor partners
• Civils project experience including both the field and back office
• Strong stakeholder management and engagement experience
• Good commercial acumen, and focus
• Ability to understand, manage and deliver on KPI’ s
