Hydrographic Surveyor (Marine) – Dorchester

We are seeking an experienced Hydrographic Surveyor to conduct predominantly short duration surveys (1-3 days) and also work in the office when not in the field. The survey types offer a wide variety of experience in many different interesting locations. Office duties will include data processing, project planning, quality control, reporting and general assistance with the day to day running of our busy small company. The majority of their work involves multibeam surveying so the successful candidate will need to be conversant with this technology. Experience in side scan sonar and other survey types will certainly be beneficial as will experience with Hypack Survey.

A UK Driving Licence is required for this work, ideally clean or with a maximum of three points. In addition, candidates with towing experience (and qualification where relevant) up to 3500 KG will be preferred.

The successful candidate will be based or willing to relocate to within an easy commuting distance of Dorchester. You will need to have experience in a variety of survey disciplines and therefore require minimal training following systems and procedural introduction. You will need to hold formal survey qualifications (e.g. ideally IHO Cat A or B) together with a relevant minimum Degree level 2:1 qualification. Ideally have extensive experience with Hypack Survey, good at problem solving, adaptable and able to work independently. Hands on commercial experience is essential. Experience in CAD is preferable. Experience also on small survey vessels is essential.

This is a rare opportunity for an enthusiastic hard-working person to be part of a well-established company where future involvement in the company structure is a real possibility. We undertake diverse and interesting projects and are excited about the prospect of introducing a new member of the team to our ventures.
Further details of the job description will be sent on application.

  • Company pension
  • On-site parking
  • Sick pay

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Experience:
