On the beautiful and historic North Yorkshire Coast, the Harbour Authority manages and operates the ports of Whitby and Scarborough as well as the Filey Coble Landing. The harbours and their facilities are central to these popular, vibrant and principal seaside resorts. Currently accommodating a combination of commercial, fishing and leisure vessels with immense potential for the anticipated future development of offshore renewables.
The applicant
The successful applicant will be required to deputise for the Borough Harbour Master for the general operations of all of the Authority’s undertakings. Ensuring the safety of navigation, conservancy, security etc. Including ongoing maintenance, certification and compliance with all statutory legal requirements. You will be required to manage a committed and diverse team in the delivery of a safe and efficient 24/7 customer focused service, liaising with all of our various stakeholders.
To fulfil this diverse and rewarding role we are seeking candidates with the relevant qualities, maritime qualifications, commitment and enthusiasm to assist in managing day to day port operations. Applicants will hold valid STCW certification sufficient to assist when required with dredging and pilotage requirements.
In recognising the importance of this position, we are offering an excellent opportunity for a work/life balance based on flexible working arrangements over a 37-hour week, Monday to Friday, predominantly office hours with generous leave. The post includes membership of the local Government pension scheme and assistance with relocation costs will be possible for the successful applicant.
