Subsea Cable Installation Engineer/Planner – UK

I have a position available as a Subsea Cable Shore End Installation Engineer with a large and well-established communication network company based in London. This position is part of a team managing the overall onsite installation of fibre optic cable shore end operations worldwide and also assists with project management.

Responsibilities are split between the office and sites.

Office:

• Review and evaluations of survey data ensuring optimal shore end engineering solutions are identified
• Review the subcontractor’s Methods of Procedures, Plans, Health & Safety and other associated operational documents
• Assist with developing shore end installation and shallow water burial solutions
• Equipment management availability and ensuring HSE and certification compliance
• Format required operational documentation
• Develop and maintain a subcontractor database
• Coordinate logistics for equipment

Site (Worldwide locations):

• Site surveys for cable landing points, assessing suitability, cost effectiveness, local resource availability and compliance
• Supervision of appointed subcontractors
• Act as Shore End Supervisor and Site Manager including:
  • Timely mob/demobilisation of installation equipment
  • Management of daily activities (such as risk assessment, tool box talks, operational meeting etc.)
  • Coordinating cable pull from installation vessel/barge to Beach Manhole
  • Implementation of cable burial and required protection works, acceptance and sign off

Requirements:

• Significant experience installing and testing fibre optic cables (preferably within the marine industry)
• Experience and confidence in project management is essential
• Submarine cable experience will be very beneficial

This position is based in London but can be worked remotely for part of the time. Travel to worldwide sites will be up to 60% of the time depending on project needs.
