Job description

Job Description as LOLER – Rigger with Stork:

A Core Rigger/Deck Operative should be an operative who has achieved NVQ Level 3 / OPITO by assessments and can provide supporting evidence; and should carry out all rigging requirements incorporating and inspection of all necessary rigging plant and equipment in compliance of LOLER regulations. It is their responsibility to ensure that plant and equipment is maintained on a regular and daily basis throughout the workscope duration, being a key member as part of the team to deliver a high standard of work.

As a member of the Asset Core Crew there may be a requirement for a Core Rigger/Deck Operative to fulfil additional asset duties; these duties will be identified and agreed with Chrysaor Offshore and Stork Onshore Management. These duties may include the following:

  • Supply Boat operations
  • Helicopter operations
  • ERT Members
  • Banksman / Slinging duties
  • Container / Material movement
  • General Deck duties

Task and Responsibilities as LOLER – Rigger:

Minimum Task Achievement

  • Rigging plan
  • LOLER compliance
  • Equipment inspection
  • Transfer loads

Deck Operations

To support the asset Core Deck Crew when required duties will vary between assets but may include:

  • Banksman Slinging
  • Supply Boat Operations
  • Container/Material Movement
  • Helicopter Operations
  • General Deck Duties

Knowledge and Implementation of:

  • Chrysaor Lifting Procedure and LOLER Regulations

HSEQ Policies and Procedures

Knowledge and Implementation of:

  • REACH
  • Chrysaor Aspire and Lifesaver Rules
  • Accident Incident Reporting
  • Risk Assessment and Hazard Observation 
  • Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) Surveillance
  • Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
  • Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER)

Specific Requirements for LOLER – Rigger:

Understanding and Knowledge

  • Health & Safety at work etc. Act 1974
  • Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
  • Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER)

Minimum Training Requirements

  • Experience working under supervision of a competent Rigger/instructor
  • COSHH – Awareness
  • Knowledge of client specification/Manufacturers specification sheets
  • Clients permit training
  • Health/Safety and Environmental Risk Assessment – awareness
  • Work at height regulations – awareness
  • Manual Handling Course
  • Attend Rigging Lifting & Slinging approved industry recognised course
  • Knowledge of Rigging Equipment
  • Confined space awareness

Technical Competencies Required

Deemed Competent in the Following Stork Standards:

  • Generic Safety
  • Scaffolding
  • Deck Operations or Stork and Chrysaor approved equivalent (if carrying out deck operations)
  • Helideck Operations or Stork and Chrysaor approved equivalent (if carrying out Helideck duties)
