Vessel IT Support Technician – Permanent – Suffolk – Competitive salary

This is an excellent opportunity to join a shipping company who are experiencing a good period of growth.

As Vessel IT Support Technician, you will provide first line response to office operations and vessel IT infrastructure. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to develop corporate systems and deliver IT projects in line with changing company requirements.

Responsibilities include:

• To assist and support the Marine / Systems Superintendent to ensure the effective management and ongoing development of company IT facilities and software
• To provide remote and onsite support and maintenance to vessel IT equipment and networks.
• Administration of IT Infrastructure, including Cloud Servers and network, in conjunction with Third-Party Service Providers.
• To monitor and maintain vessel IT infrastructure and advise management accordingly when upgrades are required.
• To liaise with the Commercial Manager to gain and maintain Cyber Security certification and administer hardware insurance policies.

Experience Required:

• Must have the ability to work independently with good time-management skills to keep the company IT functioning effectively.
• Experience in managing and using CMS systems including Open Source platforms
• Working knowledge of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN
• Knowledge of HTML, PHP, JavaScript and CSS would be useful, but not essential
• Relevant IT based qualifications or experience of working in a similar role providing first line support
• Experience working in the marine industry or time spent on board vessels is required
• Domestic and international travel to attend vessels will occasionally be required as part of this role and a clean UK driving licence will be required.
