SMS and Emergency Planning Officer (Ports) – Permanent – Kent, UK - £Excellent package

One of the UK’s leading ports is recruiting for a SMS and Emergency Planning Officer to join the team in the newly modernised head offices in Gravesend.

Reporting to the Marine Compliance Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in safeguarding the river and planning the port's emergency response to marine incidents.

Key responsibilities will include;

• Contributing significantly to the ongoing development and maintenance of an effective safety management system
• Supporting regulatory framework whilst providing statistical analysis and reports to senior management.
• Planning and executing emergency exercises
• Representing the PLA at external forums
• Liaising with key internal and external stakeholders on the development of the PLA’s marine emergency plan.

The successful candidate will hold a STCW (OOW Unlimited) Certificate of Competency or equivalent, and/or have relevant management experience in the marine and ports industry including in particular, navigational safety management, risk assessment, training and emergency management.
