Deputy Harbour Master/Pilot

We require all applicants to hold an STCW CoC Masters Unlimited or Chief Mates Unlimited. Previous ship handling/pilotage experience will be an advantage. Holders of the UKHMA/MCA Harbour Master’s Certificate with Pilotage experience will also be considered.

Duties will include assisting the Harbour Master in the day to day running of the port in addition to training to become a fully authorised Pilot. The training period is expected to take approximately 12 months. There will be a salary increase after the first 12 months dependant on the successful completion of pilotage training, examination and authorisation.

Once authorised, the basic work pattern will be 5 days on/5 days off to include shift work, on-call, working nights, weekends and bank holidays.

It is necessary that applicants are prepared to relocate within a reasonable timescale and permanently reside within 5 miles of the Port. A reasonable contribution will be made towards moving expenses.
