Harbour Master – Permanent – Kent – Competitive Package

This is an excellent opportunity to join the senior management team of one of the UK’s premier ports.

As Harbour Master you are responsible for the direction, control and co-ordination of a safe and efficient service within the port, ensuring that all statutory provisions relating to port marine operations are met fully and cost-effective, and ensuring the safety of navigation whilst optimising the service provided to customers and other users of the Port.

The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of, national and international legislation and procedures affecting port operations. You will have experience of formal risk assessment processes and familiarity with port safety management systems. You will need to demonstrate that they can lead, motivate and effectively manage resources with proven and effective interpersonal skills. Excellent communications skills in all media and an ability to work effectively under pressure are essential to the role.

Ideally you will hold a STCW II/2 (Chief Mates Unlimited) CoC or an MCA approved UK Harbour Masters Certificate or suitable equivalent. You should also have significant experience in a management position in port operations
