Technical Superintendent (Offshore) – Permanent – Essex – £50k – £65k plus benefits

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well established shipping company based in Essex.

The purpose of the role is to ensure that designated ships are proactively managed safely and efficiently maintained in accordance with IMO Requirements, Flag State and Classification Rules, together with Company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for verifying allocated vessels are compliant with above and that relevant systems in place are adequate for maintaining such compliance.
  • Planning, controlling and execution of all activities on-board connected with technical operational readiness, planned and unplanned maintenance, emergency repairs, shipboard and technical management, and survey and certificate requirements of allocated vessels, producing variance reports when required.
  • Planning and monitoring of annual ship’s budget, ensuring strict cost control on all aspects of vessel expenditure is enforced and taking action when necessary to operate according to budget.
  • Prepare dry dock/ refit specifications, submit to tender, adjudicate tender returns with the Head of Fleet and allocated Procurement Buyer to control and manage dry docks with due regard to agreed timescales and budgets. Submit requests for additional CAPEX funding if agreed CAPEX funding is insufficient.
  • Monitor mobilisations of equipment placed on-board vessels, supporting the Mobilisation Engineer to deliver a sound, safe and operational spread. This will involve HAZID/HAZOP studies and supporting the handover process from the Mobilisation Engineer to Fleet Superintendent, Project Manager

Experience Required:

  • First Class Certificate of Competency (Engine)
  • Extensive experience in O&G or Offshore Wind as a Technical Superintendent
  • Knowledge of maritime legislation
  • Ability to administer budgetary requirements.
  • Ability to travel at short notice with a flexible and pro-active approach to work
  • Experience of quality management systems and audits
  • ISO/ISM Auditor accreditation an advantage
  • Familiarity with Dynamic Positioning Systems, submersible vehicles, and cable working machinery and equipment
