Lead Naval Architect – Permanent – Northern Ireland – £45,000-£55,000

Navis Consulting are delighted to be working exclusively with a new client to source a talented Lead Naval Architect. Our client, a leader in Maritime engineering and design, are expanding at their advanced composites and manufacturing facility in Northern Ireland.

Key responsibilities:

  • The Lead Naval Architect will report to the Technical Director within the design team contributing to the design of vessels
  • 2D and 3D drafting of vessels and production deliverables for manufacturing
  • Hydrostatics designs of hulls
  • Support the Operations Manager and Build Manager to deliver manufacturing information
  • Assist with maintenance, fault finding and implementing solutions for the reliable operations of the vessel including preventative strategies
  • The Lead Naval Architect will support the vessel development programs where required and ensure it meets the appropriate regulations where relevant.

Qualifications / experienced required:

  • Minimum BEng or equivalent in Naval Architecture, Power Craft Design or similar field
  • Marine industry experience and knowledge with composite vessels (GRP / Carbon fibre / Sandwich construction)
  • Expert knowledge with CATIA V5 and / or Solidworks
  • Expert knowledge with AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of composite construction is desirable
  • Understanding of vessel dynamics (Archimedean and foiling) is desirable.
