Head of Engineering (Small Craft) - Permanent - Scotland, UK - Excellent Package

A leading operator of small craft vessels is currently recruiting for a Head of Engineering to join the successful team in Scotland. 

The purpose of the role is to implement asset management strategies and deliver the technical and engineering support - fleet and shore-side - to ensure successful performance of all assets. 

Other key responsibilities of the role include; 

  • Taking responsibility for developing and maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external customers at all levels.
  • Leading and directing the team to deliver a customer service provision-focussed culture consistently delivering service and contractual requirements.
  • Ensuring the company Human Resource policies and procedures are adopted and followed robustly throughout the business areas.
  • Actively participating in the development and implementation of Maintenance policy, Vessel Asset Maintenance & Engineering strategy working closely with Vessel Owners & Operations Planning.
  • Identifying and developing business improvement opportunities within the team.
  • Accountable for introducing new/innovative approaches and ways of working into the team to optimise cost of ownership and respond to any changing business drivers or market conditions.
  • Actively promoting and aligning to the company’s safety strategy, policies & procedures and lead by example.
  • Creating and maintaining Engineering Policies & Standards to be used in maintenance and upgrade activity.
  • Actively promoting and aligning to the company’s Environment and Waste Management strategy, ensure compliant with environmental legislation.

The successful individual will have extensive experience working in a related Senior Management position in the Maritime sector, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have proven leadership skills across multiple disciplines. 

You will be able to demonstrate commercial and financial experience/knowledge and acumen, have strong working knowledge of all regulations and their impact on the business and have strong change management and project management skills. 

Recognised Management & Leadership qualifications are essential (as part of business degree or standalone), along with a Technical/Engineering and/or Business-related degree.

Awareness of Marine regulations, law and quality/safety standards is desirable.

Language Requirements

Good knowledge of the English language is required.
